Rebecca Malope often referred to as Africa’s Queen of Gospel, who rose to fame in the late 90’s with much determinations from a humble background with her sister Cynthia, left their home township of Lekazi near Nelspruit and hiked 400 km to Evaton from where they finally reached Johannesburg. This brave step launched a personal journey of achievements that was destined to touch the hearts and minds of millions.

She was brought to the attention of producer Zizwe Zakho, who had Malope record a large variety of material from a disco and pop to love ballads and gospel. Her records became popular in South Africa and soon she recorded an entire album of gospel to satiate the desire of both herself and her fans.The gospel record was well received and she decided to devote her career to South Africa Gospel. In 1996 she released her first American Record. The following year, she signed with the Emi subsidiary Hemisphere and released free “At Last” in November during the time South Africa was out of the apartheid era.

Rebecca Malope, a gifted gospel musician of great determination spawning over 29 years in the industry with 35 albums under her belt won the OKTV Award of Best South African Female Artist, and her career soared, winning several awards locally and internationally as well as touring the globe.

Speaking to Worshipper, on the Personality of the week show on A1 Radio, the singer disclosed that God has really favored her in her entire career as a determined gospel musician. When asked whether she is ready to retire in other to pave way for the up and coming, she said no, because the work of God has no end until the end of time.
