Upper East Regional reporter for the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Samuel Adadi Akapule was adjudged winner of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) reporting category during the 20th edition of Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards.

Mr. Akapule’s report published on September 21st 2015 highlighted how Ghana has so far made significant progress towards the attainment of the MDG 4 and 5 on reducing child mortality and improving maternal health.

The report which was published on the Ghana News Agency and other news portals explains how Ghana is wobbling to achieve the goals due to slow progress in improving child and maternal health. Mr. Akapule’s report however commended the Upper East Region for performing better in order to help achieve the MDGs on health despite its scanty resources.

This adds to the second time he has won the GJA awards. It would be recalled that Mr. Akapule in 2010 won the rural reporter of the year.

Mr. Akapule together with other journalists was awarded on Saturday for their outstanding performance in educating and informing the populace on issues happening in the country. Seth Kwame Boateng of Joy fm emerged the journalist of the year.
