Incumbent Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency Hon. Mahama Ayariga has won in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress.

The Environment, Science and Technology Minister will be entering parliament for the third time if he wins in the 2016 general elections.

Provisional results indicates that Mahama Ayariga pulled 7,309 votes as against 1,869 votes pulled by former MCE, Abdulai Musah whiles  building and roads engineer Alhaji Ibrahim Dori pulled 517.

Earlier, there were concerns raised by members of Alhaji Dori’s campaign team over the absence of names of registered voters who had their names in the register during the party’s voters register exhibition exercise.

Icon Abdulai, a member of the campaign team said “It is surprising registered members who saw their names during the exhibition cannot find their names on the day of the voting”

Hon. Mahama Ayariga is expected to stage a strong campaign to retain the Bawku Central Seat following an already strong indication of a keen contest by the NPP’s Gabiana Abganwa.
