Defeated Parliamentary Aspirant of the National Democratic Congress in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency Lawyer Abraham Amaliba says the outcome of the parliamentary primaries in the constituency is a clear show of competence being sacrificed for tribalism.

The just ended parliamentary primaries saw a clinch to victory by financial analyst Isaac Adongo who pulled 4,219 votes to beat off his closest contender Lawyer Abraham Amaliba who got 3,052 votes. Incumbent Member of Parliament Hon. Akolbire Opam Brown lost the bid to represent the party in next year’s elections after he pulled 2,956 votes’ whiles George Gamson got 906 votes.

Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East show on Monday, Lawyer Amaliba said his defeat was as a result of tribal politics employed by his contender and now Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC in the Bolgatanga Central constituency Hon. Isaac Adongo to detract constituents from seeing the competence in him.

According to him “I am sad that competence has been sacrificed for tribalism. From the onset, there have been a lot of things said about me which were distasteful including the saying that I don’t come from here. There are many of our people who are in other parts of the country serving the nation and serving other people. So what is wrong if I also want to serve?”

The obviously livid member of the NDC legal team said he will take it upon himself to fight against what he has described as tribal politics which is fast gaining roots in the Bolgatanga Central constituency. He added that he will file nomination forms again to contest in subsequent primaries in his efforts to weed out tribal politics in the constituency.
