Upper East Regional Minister designate, Hon. Albert Abongo has promised to run an open door policy in his tenure as minister.

According to him, he has not come to push the agenda of his political party but rather for the development of the region and will need the collaboration of all stakeholders including chiefs, political leaders and the media to ensure the development of the region.

“I am going to run an open door administration in my tenure. I have resolved to work closely with people from all political divides to ensure that that Upper East enjoys the development it needs.” He said.

The Member of Parliament for Bongo added that, considering the time of his appointment as minister (Election year), his foremost priority is to collaborate with especially all the political parties and traditional leaders in order to ensure that the region has a violent free election.

Albert Abongo who was speaking to Albert Azongo on A1 radio’s flagship program, Daybreak Upper East Wednesday mentioned that, with the uprising in neighbouring Burkina Faso, he will collaborate with the security apparatus to seal all entry points to ensure the safety of the people is kept intact.

He acknowledged that the roads in the region are in poor shape and there was the need to fix them to give the region a facelift.

“The last time the president came here we told him that the Bolga-Bawku and Bongo roads need to be fixed and he gave his assurance to fix it so I will follow to ensure that they are done. There are some other small problems with roads in the capital and my administration will follow to give the capital a facelift.”

Hon. Albert Abongo will be vetted by parliament before he takes over from the current minister, Hon. James Zigah Tigah.
