Three year old Ayinbotima Adagana Christabel in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region is in dire need of financial assistance to foot the bill of a surgery to correct a current state of colostomy which compels her to pass out stool through an opening on the surface of her belly.
Christabel, was initially presented to the pediatric unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with passage of stool through the vagina.
Medical report seen by a1radioonline.com said “she was subsequently diagnosed with rectovestibular fistula and had a divided sigmoid colostomy done on the April 5 2014.”
It further stated that “She underwent another surgery which was a fistulectomy and reconstruction of perineal body on July 21 2015. Several months afterwards she was readmitted and had a return of colostomy done on February 9 2016.”
Surgeons at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital say little Christabel had a bleeding disorder which is currently being managed through treatment with vitamin K but would need two more surgeries at a cost of about GHS 5,000 to correct the anomaly.
Grace Adagana, Christabel’s Mother said the struggle to manage the little girl’s deteriorating condition started in 2013 and has since drained the family’s resources. According to her, Christabel’s condition lead to the closure of her hair dressing saloon due to embarrassing moments of stool passage at the shop and dedication of a chunk of time attending to her sick daughter.
Grace Adagana is therefore appealing to well-meaning individuals, non-governmental organizations, religious bodies and all concerned to support raise a needed amount of GHS 5,000 for the two surgeries.
