Upper East Region Suffering Due to Frequent Reshuffle of Ministers – Prof Avea

Former Upper East Regional Minister Prof. Avea Nsoh has blamed the under development in the Upper East Region on the constant reshuffling of regional ministers.

According to him, regional ministers the region has had for the last four years were not given the ample time to understand the issues, the situation and the people to be able to formulate prudent policies for Development.

“Look at what is happening in Upper East, four ministers have just been removed within four years. So it means that the gestation period that will allow You to understand the situation, understand the people and be able to formulate policies as I was doing with the Regional Development Strategy, You are not allowed to do that,” he told Azongo Albert.

He noted that if regional ministers were voted for, they would have been provided with enough room to operate, the region would have moved to a higher pedestal but that has not been the case hence a reason why Upper East and West have suffered in terms of development over the years.

“If we allow people to work for four years, for instance, if I had four years, Regional Development Plan would have been functional, we would have got more resources, people would have understood me better and i would have understood the people better, my president would have treated me better and i would have delivered much much better.”

The former upper east regional minister therefore underscored the need for regional ministers to be elected in order to provide them enough time to develop the regions.

The Upper East Region has in four years had four regional ministers.
