Bolga-Bawku Road Would Be Tarred By End of November – NDC Regional Secretary

National Democratic Congress’ Upper East Regional Secretary, Donatus Akamugri, has said the most talked about Bolga-Bawku road will finally be tarred by the end of November, 2016.

According to him, the road forms part of the eastern corridor roads package and will be fixed soon.

It could be remembered that President Mahama during 2014 Samanpiid festival celebrated by the Kusag traditional area promised to fix the road before the next time he visits the area.

However, the road has since not been tarred making some individuals including the New Patriotic Party attributing the postponement of the President’s “accounting to the people tour” to this failure.

But in a sharp response to the above allegation at a press conference Wednesday, the NDC regional secretary questioned “did the president give a time frame that he will come? Did he tell you when he is even coming to visit his in-laws in Bawku the road must be fixed before he comes? Did he tell them that if I am coming back for a Samanpiid alone the road must be fixed?”

According to him “the president says by the time he will come back. It means that when the president is coming to do a rally in Bawku and says that vote for me and the road is not fix then you will ask him questions.”

The leadership of the NDC in the region described the NPP’s press conference on 10th June as a “deliberate misrepresentation, deceitful and divisive.”

In highlighting the party’s achievement, Mr. Akamugri flanked by some party leaders said “the record of the NPP’s development projects in the Upper East is nowhere near that of NDC.”

Mr. Akamugri who doubles as board chairman of the defunct Northern Star Tomato Factory at Pwalugu said government is partnering the private sector after several attempts to revamp the factory.
