Bolgatanga: NDC Suffers Defection

49 purported members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bolgatanga central constituency of the Upper East Region on Saturday denounced their membership to the umbrella party to join the opposition New Patriotic party.

The group of women who asserted that a continued stay with the NDC will worsen their plight defected to the New Patriotic Party to ensure victory for the party in the 2016 elections.

The women who could not prove their membership to the NDC by membership cards swore an oath of allegiance to remain faithful to the elephant party. Some of them speaking to the media stated that President John Dramani Mahama under a “boring” NDC has mismanaged the economy therefore the need to change a government.

The group made this known in Bolgatanga during the launch of an NPP women wing known as Alhaji Ismaila Vibrant Ladies.

According to chairperson of the group, Abigail Agambire, their loyalty to the NDC has not changed their lives for the better coupled with a collapsed National Health Insurance Scheme and deplorable road networks in the region.

“I followed NDC and had an accident. It is because of the opposition man Alhaji Sumaila helping me that is why I joined NPP,” she said.

Welcoming the disgruntled former supporters of the NDC to the NPP, Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party in Bolgatanga Central, Rex Asanga entreated them to galvanize more support for the NPP to enable it win massively in the up-coming elections.
