Rev. Father Bemoans Lack of Unity, Charges Parishners to Be Steadfast

Parish priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish in Bolgatanga, Rev. Father Ezekiel Sulley has charged members of the church to be steadfast in times of humiliations, trials and difficulties.

Rev. Father Ezekiel bemoaned what he described as lack of unity in the church in recent times saying “right now as I am speaking we are divided, that is the truth, you either agree or disagree. And that is why we have JFP and JEP. JFP (Jeremiah Friends Party) and JEP (Jeremiah Enemies Party). And Jeremiah Friends Party are those who are ready to stand for the truth, die for the truth and live for the truth and they are in every church. So let us not pretend and say oh we are united when we know very well we are not. Call a spade a spade,” he said.

His remarks come barely a week after a member of the church Fred Apana accused him and some prominent persons of the church of mismanaging funds belonging to the church with reports of growing apprehensions and discontentment among members.

However, Catholic Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, Most Rev. Alfred Agyenta in a statement debunked the report labeling it as false.

In a spirit filled sermon delivery, Sunday, Rev. Father Ezekiel observed amidst cheers from a section of the congregation that there is a growing team of “Judases” in the church.

“As you are sitting now there are Judases in our midst, that is the truth, that is the truth, you may not agree, that is why we are divided, it is true. Even among the twelve there is a Judas. Even the time of Jesus, in the time of Jeremiah as a priest there were Judases” he asserted.

He therefore called on members of the church to rise beyond the challenges staring in the face of the Catholic Church and be steadfast in prayers.
