Some beneficiaries of the Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Upper East Region have received support to aid them commute conveniently to their duty posts.

Means of movement for the personnel on daily basis to their duty points has been a major challenge, a situation they say militates against the effectiveness of their delivery.

As part of government’s efforts to salvage the worrying situation, the first batch of 313 CPAs across the upper east region have received bicycles to aid in their mobility and work. At a ceremony to hand over the brand new bicycles to the beneficiaries in Bolgatanga, Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem entreated the personnel to be guided by discipline and loyalty in their field of work.

The minister’s advice comes at a time some personnel of the module openly file complains on airwaves over limited logistics to work with.

“In every institution you have chain of command. It is not everybody who talks about that institution and if you are provided with logistics that are not enough, you should know who to talk to” he said.

He further advised the personnel to register their grievances and difficult situations through proper channels.

Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Simon Afeku cautioned the officers to eschew acts of mischief or corrupt practices as the police service is monitoring to report their work and conduct which will go a long way to determine their future in the service. DCOP Afeku admonished the officers to take good care of the bicycles to ensure their longevity.

Roger Alolibisa, YEA Upper East regional director on his part stated that the agency as part of its mandate to develop, coordinate, supervise and facilitate employment for the Ghanaian youth has recruited and deployed 1,349 Community Health Workers (CHWs), 121 Prison Assistants 122 Fire Protection Assistants, 60 E-Health technicians and 409 CPAs in the region.
