Bolgatanga All Stars have made history as the first team from the upper east region to qualify for the nation’s elite football league after they came top in zone one of the division one league.

The team made history by accruing fifty four points in the sixteen team league.

The climax of the celebration was at the Utrech Park in Tamale where the team beat Tamale Utrectch Academy by two goals to nothing in their final match on Sunday October 9.

Speaking to A1Radio’s Emmanuel Aboagye after the final game, club Chief Executive Officer, Paa Willie, mentioned that the feat achieved by their team is commendable. He indicated that the team set out to qualify at the start of the league and that is what they have worked at from day one.

He noted that the qualification should be a wakeup call on leaders in the region to give the Bolgatanga sports stadium a facelift because Premier league football will transform the economy of upper east region and sell it to the outside world.

Paa Willie said as they the pioneers have been able to make history, it will serve as a morale booster and has paved a way for the younger ones to also work at qualifying for the elite league.
