The Executive Director of Centre for Development and Policy Advocacy, Ziblim Alhassan has urged the youth to be the agents of peace before, during and after the 2016 general elections.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with A1 News after a one day training program in Tamale for journalists in the north, Mr. Ziblim said the youth are the architects of violence because the old and aged do not have the energy to commit violence or even kill.

“The youth of any part of Africa are the architects of violence, because the old men do not have the energy to burn people’s houses, to go and kill because of elections. So we are the youth, we are the architects of violence but I want to tell them that they should make themselves the agents of peace in this elections because when you kill for one to become president, tomorrow you will not get the chance to become president. You either kill or you are killed in the process so they should think about their future because they can also become presidents or Members of Parliament,” he said.

He added that politicians are always self-seeking and once a politician needs power, he is so desperate so even if he is asked to slaughter a human being to get the power, he will do.

He further added that it is left onto the youth to judge when to act and when not.

The workshop was organized by Creative Storm Networks on peaceful election 2016 and forms part of the Reacting to Early Warning and Response Data in West Africa (REWARD) project as part of USAID support for peaceful election 2016 in Ghana.
