UE: We lost GHC 141,000 in robbery attack

Branch Manager of Club Bear in the Upper East, Prasad C Sekhar has disclosed to a1radioonline.com that his outfit lost a sum GhC141, 000 when their depot was attacked by armed robbers on the morning of February 6.

In an interview with A1 News, the depot branch manager, Prasad C Sekhar,  said the robbers who were four in number threatened to take his life should he refuse to give them the money and although there were CCTV cameras recording the robbery incident they took them away after thy were done with their operation.

Narrating what happened on the day, Mr. Prashad C Sekhar said: “More than Ghs141, 000 was taken away, and this was sales made on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Monday which could not be taken by our bankers before the attack at about 11am that morning. I was here in my office when I saw on my CCTV camera people lying down amidst some noise like, lie down. So I decided to come out and see what was happening but upon opening the door, one of them saw me. I quickly closed the door and tried to lock it but he rushed to my door and threatened to kill me if I do not open so I opened the door. He then asked of the safe and again threatened to kill me so I had to open for him then he called one of them ‘commander bring the bag’, then they took all the money from the safe. So that was how they took the money away”.

The manager also disclosed that his driver and salesman were attacked on their way back from Walewale on Friday but the salesman managed to escape although with bullet wounds.

The police have since started investigations into the issue.
