Captain of Ghana’s Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has slammed Ghanaians criticizing him for customizing his armband.
The Captain in Ghana’s game against Ethiopia on Sunday had his captains armband customized and could not hand it over to Dede Ayew, the deputy Captain of the team when he was substituted.
This sparked a debate on social media and other platforms as to whether it was ethical that the captain customizes his armband.
But in responding to critics about the customized armband, Asamoah Gyan said “That is what I heard which is quite strange that people are making comments about this armband thing after a huge win.”
“Honestly I don’t know what people want again, Zanetti of Inter Milan had his picture on his arm band, Icardi of Inter Milan and Sergio Ramos as well so why it that anything Asamoah Gyan does becomes an issue.”
“At the end of the day we have won and we should be happy with that.”
Ghana started her AFCON 2019 with a triumph over Ethiopia at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
