District Chief Executive of Kassena-Nankana West district, Clement Dandori, is alleged to be aiding his stalwarts to smuggle fertilizers meant for government’s ‘planting for food and jobs’ policy.

It will be recalled that Municipal Chief Executive of Kassena-Nankana, Williams Aduum during the NPP regional delegates conference in Bolgatanga last month, lamented over the involvement of some NPP activists in the smuggling of fertilizer to neighboring Burkina Faso.

According to him “anytime our taskforce are through with them, you see the party people actually coming to plead”.

But addressing the media at a press conference in Sirigu in the Kassena-Nankana West district, NPP deputy youth organizer of Chiana/Paga constituency, Thomas Akwalase alleged that the DCE, Clement Dandori has been assisting his personal secretary, Daniel Namoo and two others, Francis Zuadam and Peter Adeyire to smuggle fertilizer.

“If the DCE could send his boys there to go and be looting and smuggling fertilizer that the president has brought to our district to help the farmers [but] he representing the president he is allowing them to smuggle it.”

Mr. Kwalase predicted doom for the policy in the district stating that they are “at a lost and praying that things will change”.

Asked  why they couldn’t report the alleged smuggling to the police service, the constituency deputy youth organizer alleged that the police service is aiding in the fertilizer smuggling.

The DCE when contacted however refuted the allegations stating that he has set up a committee to curb fertilizer smuggling in the district.
