Northerners are difficult people for a good reason-lawyer Anyenini

Host of Joy FM and Joy News flagship program, Newsfile, Friday admitted that Northerners are difficult people but their difficulty is for a good reason.

Lawyer Anyenini’s admittance comes barely weeks after the resignation of deputy agriculture minister, William Agyapong Quaitoo over his ethnocentric and insulting statement.

Mr. Agyapong was heavily criticized and condemned widely for describing Northerners as difficult people and liars who want to lie and get government support through the fall armyworm invasion.

But Lawyer Anyenini who is a northerner and hails from Gambibgo, a farming community in the Bolgatanga municipality of Upper East region recounted his difficulty back at his days as a child said he escaped to Kumasi after he had engaged in ‘by day’ farm work, kola nuts selling and ‘waakye leaves’ selling at Bolga market.

According to him upon his arrival in the garden city, he was advised to learn fridge or electronic gadgets repairs because he was considered to have grown beyond school age. But he declined the offer so he could further his education because he is difficult.

According to him, if not for his difficulty, “people with deep pockets” in the country would have had their way through him with goodies to influence Manasseh Azure Awuni to drop stories of alleged corruption leveled against them. But for the fact that he and Manasseh who are difficult for a good reason just like anti-corruption crusader, Martin Amidu, a northerner too, they were able to reject temptations to drop investigative reports of corrupt acts.

“It is true we are difficult, what is not true is that we tell lies. We don’t lie so anybody who says we are a bunched of liars should look themselves well in the mirror”

“Yes we are difficult but we are difficult for the good reasons. I say we are difficult like Martin Amidu, we are difficult like Manasseh Azure”

Lawyer Anyenini said this during the 5th (52nd) quadrennial conference of Upper East regional chapter of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) held in Bolgatanga.
