The Upper East Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba has said that the ten regional Chairmen of the party never endorsed the candidature of former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
There were reports that the ten regional Chairmen of the country’s biggest opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), called on the former President to lead the party to wrestle power from the New Patriotic Party.
This move has been condemned by several individual including party faithful who have called for the resignation of the Chairmen and an unqualified apology.
But speaking to A1 Radio News, Upper East regional Chairman of the NDC, Bolnaba indicated that the ten regional chairmen visited John Dramani Mahama to remind him of the need to embark on a thank you tour of the ten regions in the country in order to help strengthen the grassroots of the party that lost the 2016 elections.
He indicated that the Chairmen are aware that other individuals are interested in the flagbearership position and will never take sides even before the party goes to the polls because they represent their various regions.
“Yes we went to the office of the former President to discuss with him to go on a thank you tour because after the elections he has not gone on a thank you tour. It was just a discussion we went to have with him not an endorsement. It was a discussion and not an endorsement,” he said.
