Tamale-based artiste, Fancy Gadam has said he does not need to perform on shows outside Ghana to prove that he will win this year’s artiste of the year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The artiste is reported to have said in an interview that he has no competition in the year under review and that he will win the coveted award because he has worked for it.

The comments by the artiste generated several discussions on social media and other platforms with several people indicating that the artiste does not deserve the feat because he has not organised shows outside the country.

But speaking to Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio’s Kofi Asante on the station’s flagship entertainment show, E-Zone, the artiste indicated that he does not need to perform on international stages to prove his worth as an artiste.

According to him, the award scheme is called Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and not International Music awards and therefore filling the Tamale Sports Stadium, National Theatre and the Bukom Boxing arena proves his worth enough and justifies why he should be awarded as the artiste of the year.
