The public has been admonished to be wary of false prophets who are distorting the message of God to suit their parochial interest.

“Today there are so many wolfs; there are so many false teachers in our country today, distorting the truth in order to draw the Disciples of Christ away.”

According to the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tamale, Right Reverend Doctor Jacob Kofi Ayeebo, these false prophets succeeded in wooing vulnerable Christians whom some are the clergy simply because they are reluctant to study the word of God.

“Unfortunately, Anglicans are vulnerable to their attacks, because today Anglicans including the clergy are not interested in studying the word of God. Again the tragedy of today is that some men of God are not different from those who were hired servants as Jesus spoke about them in John 10:12” Rev. Ayeebo stated.

Rev. Ayeebo said this on the ordination of five priests of the Anglican Church in Yelwoko in the Bawku West District of Upper East Region. Rev. Ayeebo charged the new priests of the church to pray against some social vices the country witnesses.

According to him “poverty and diseases are so common in our communities today. Child and spouse abuses; drug addiction, alcoholism, bribery, lack of patriotism, indiscipline have increased in recent years”.

The Bishop went further stating that “misuse of public office is so common in our country today…These and many other social issues are the context of your [priests] ministry; these are the context in which God has called you people to be ordained”.
