The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has committed to ensure value for money in the award of government contract and has vowed to resist party loyalist, Chiefs and other prominent individuals who may want to use their close association with government officials to hurt national interest.

The Minister was speaking at the Third Aliu Mahama Memorial lectures which was under the theme “Transforming  Ghana Beyond Aid”.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party since taking over government has worked towards blocking all leakages that robs the country of several billions of Ghana cedis annually.

He indicated that all stakeholders should come on board to help bring an end to this canker indicating people don’t help when they jump to the defense of people alleged to have robbed the country by saying “he is one of us”.

“We must all help to diffuse this canker. We do not help when we are quick to defend the same people who dupe the state with the excuse that he is one of us. Such individuals are led by party persons, Chiefs, Clergy and some eminent individuals in the country. If indeed you are one of us, please assist us to help Ghana for all of us and not for only you.”
