It was a very long hot 30minutes programme aired on A1 Radio 101.1 in the Upper East Region, when the question ’’WHO IS THE KING OF DANCEHALL IN GHANA?’’ was posed to listeners and especially to lovers of dancehall on the programme Work and Happiness on Friday morning by Deejay Lexis.
Most music lovers especially lovers of the dancehall genre raided the phone lines and massively voted for the song entitled ‘’GIRLS EVERYWHERE” sang by hit maker Emmanuel Hamid Samyini known in showbiz as Samini.
The list of names of dancehall artistes in Ghana compiled for the programme consisted of Samini, shatta wale (Bandana), Stonebwoy, Kaaki, Sonni Bali, Iwan, Jupita, Lingua kat, Knii Lante, Reggie Zippi, Natural Face and Atumpan.
At the end of the segment, Samini had the highest number of votes followed by Stonebwoy, Kaaki, Shatta Wale and the rest. As to why fans voted massively for Samini, some of them gave their reasons being that because of the lyrical content of his songs and also the rhythm of his songs most especially how far he has taken Ghana dancehall music.
But the question still remains ’’WHO IS THE KING OF DANCEHALL IN GHANA?’’
