The NADMO National Secretariat says plans are afoot to mitigate the spillage of the Bagre dam in neighboring Burkina Faso. The Burkinabe authorities have served notice of possibly spilling the dam anytime soon.
Anytime there is spillage from the Bagre dam, residents along the White Volta basins in Ghana are affected. Usually, the worse affected are low-lying areas in the Northern and Upper East regions.
Ahead of the spillage, Deputy National Coordinator of NADMO, Sylvester Azantillow, told Citi News contingency measures have been put in place to mitigate the outcome. He said the Burkinabe authorities have in advance notified NADMO on the gradual spillage of the Bagre dam. According to Mr. Azantillow, residents of low-lying areas in the demarcated zones have been advised to relocate upland.
