Disaster Volunteer Groups and Stakeholders in Talensi District Present Communiqué to the DCE at the End of NADMO Disaster Day Celebrations

Disaster Volunteer Groups in Talensi District on Tuesday presented a communiqué to the District Chief Executive of the area after this year’s NADMO disaster day celebration.

As part of the celebration, the groups marched on the streets of Tongo to sensitize the citizens on disaster management.

At the district assembly, a representative of the disaster volunteer groups, Isaiah Abagna Aserakai on behalf of the groups read and presented the communiqué to the District Chief Executive. He said disasters are natural and man-made phenomena that can occur in every sector of the society. Mr Aserakai said anytime disasters strikes, the vulnerable in the society often suffer the most.

 NADMO in collaboration with world vision international, Talensi ADP and other Stakeholders are creating awareness on disasters in the district to demonstrate that if important measures are put in place, some disasters can be prevented and the effect of those that occur can be reduced to the barest minimum.

The manager of World Vision Ghana, Norbert Akolibila assured the groups of his outfit’s continuous support with necessary logistics to fight against the hazards of disasters in the district.

Talensi District Chief Executive, Edward Awonore after receiving the communiqué on behalf of the district assembly said the district assembly has put up some measures to ensure that the climate is conducive.
