Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Emmanuel Sin-nyet Asigri has sent a strong warning to male teachers against having sexual relations with school girls, adding that such perpetrators should be arrested and dealt with accordingly.

According to Mr. Asigri, it is uncouth for teachers who should be inculcating best behaviours in students to instead, engagement them in amorous sexual relationships.

Speaking on Day-Break Upper East on A1 Radio, the former district chief executive of Garu-tempane implored heads of schools and authorities at the various teacher groups to keenly monitor teachers who perpetrate such despicable acts and make sure they face the full rigors of the laws.

Mr. Asigri is of the view that the country will lose greatly if, what he described as a canker against the youth, is not nipped in the bud.

“Look at what is going on, which future are we building? We are saying that the youth constitute a greater part of our population, that is why we are described as a youthful population….This is not one of the things we should be playing with” he asserted.

Making reference to a recent revelation of rife alleged sexual abuse against some female students in Ejisuman Senior High School, Mr. Asigri said “the police should not sit down and watch; the police have the mandate to move in and act than doing nothing”.

He continued that the Police must be proactive in effecting arrests on perpetrators in cases that have clears evidence beyond reasonable doubts instead of waiting for formal complaints.

In a strongly worded advice, Mr. Asigri said people must desist from attitudes that hinder the administration of the law on people who fault it.

He commended hardworking Ghanaian teachers who go all out to evoke the best in their students. To the media, he appreciated the efforts channeled in the fight against the menace and urged for more support in dealing with the issue.
