U/E: Most students are weak in Maths and Science.

Management of the Upper East Regional branch of popular remedial school, Ideal College, has said their observations have shown that most students in the Upper East region have weaknesses in the Mathematics and Science subjects.

According to management of the school, the observations came to their knowledge through the interactions tutors of the two subjects have had with students during contact hours in the college.

“The general overview is that we have come down to know is that most of our students in Upper East here are weak in maths and science. We have come to know that through our subject masters”

This was made known in an interview on Bolgatang-based A1 Radio with sit-in host of Day Break Upper East, Ibrahim Aziz.

In the interview, the Public Relations Officer of the school, Richard Ayine Agana said the school has however been able to beat the odd and has and continue to produce students with good grades in all subjects to meet admission requirement of tertiary institutions.

Mr. Ayine said the provisions made to enable students have “one on one” lectures with tutors, among other things have helped the students greatly. He assured parents and prospective students of the schools’ continuous commitment to helping students who have weaknesses in math and science.

He also touted the achievements of the school since its establishment in the region five years ago.

“Since the inception of the school, the school has been performing marvelously well. And even before we came to upper east in the year 2013 a lot of challenges were here but we were able to do our best to place more students into the universities and the nursing training colleges. We have most of the students coming out of the universities and colleges who can testify”. He said.

Headmaster of the college, Peter Barnes, said aside the effective tuition and normal curricular activities student are given in the school, special focus is also placed on the spiritual wellbeing of students. He stated that conditions at the school allow for easy coordination between tutors and students in areas of spiritual matters and counseling.

He urged parents to enroll their wards into any of their streams; the remedial classes for Senior high school leavers seeking to better their grades and the Ideal College (Senior High School) for JHS leavers seeking senior high school education, for good grades that will offer them a great chance of securing university or college admissions.
