The Binduri District Chief Executive, Yakubu Abagre, has totally dismissed claims by Alhaji Apam Nuhu, a concerned citizen of the area, that he has done very little for the assembly which was recently hit by a rainstorm.

A concerned citizen, who spoke on Day Break Upper East on A1 Radio Thursday, accused the political head of the district of not visiting the storm scenes, including a primary school, to assess the extent of damage after the area was hit by the storm.

According to the concerned citizen, the storm has destroyed a greater part of the area and a school structure thereby hampering effective teaching and learning. He bemoaned the slow approach of the Chief Executive in addressing the plight of school.

But in a sharp refute on same platform, the District Chief Executive has shot down the statement describing it as false. He said the assembly with the help of the district NADMO office went on a tour of affected houses and structures within the assembly to see at first hand the extent of damage caused by the storm.

Mr. Abagre explained that it was through his visits that facilitated repair works on some of the ruined health compounds in the area. He further explained that shortage of material has stalled repair works on other affected structures including the Yalugu Ahmadiyya Primary School.

The DCE has however hinted that a consignment of relief materials for the assembly has been dispatched from Accra to enable repair works continue. But he could not tell when the Yalugu Ahmadiyya Primary School will have its roof fixed.

News broke recent of how a rainstorm swept through areas in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region causing the loss of thousands of cedis and displacing several families.
