The Caribbean island of Barbados elected its very first female prime mininster on Thursday, and Rihanna, one of the country’s national treasures, took to Instagram to express her congratulations to the new woman in charge.

Mia Amor Mottley, the head of the Barbados Labour Party, earned her victory after the party won all 30 seats in the country’s House of Assembly. She will soon be sworn in as the country’s next prime minister.

She campaigned on a platform attacking high taxes and the expensive cost of living on the Caribbean island, and these issues seemed to resonate with the international pop star who took to Instagram to share her support of her win.

“Say hello to my new prime minister and most importantly the FIRST FEMALE prime minister of Barbados,” she wrote. “Well deserved and about time!”
