NDC Communicator blames local media for not publishing grassroots suggestions

A leading member of the National Democratic Congress Communication Team in the Upper East Region, John Paul Danka has blamed media houses in the region for limiting the comments and suggestions of Political Party Communicators to just the region.

“We make a lot of sense and give good developmental suggestions and yet, our people at the national level don’t hear. I blame our media here. They don’t see what we say here as good enough to hype. We always review or read about what other people say in other regions. Meanwhile, we speak well and give good suggestions here, and yet we are not in the news.” Paul Danka noted.

He was speaking on A1 Radio 101.1MHz “Day Break Upper East” Show in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

Even before John Paul Danka settled into the programme, he had shown signs of displeasure, (not towards the station or host) probably angered by the high cost of fuel, which was among the topics for discussion on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

He believes that, if the media houses in the region take interest in listening to what the various Political Party Communicators say on air every day, and publish them, they will be helping government and its appointees and other development stakeholders, to understand and realise some of the realities on the ground.

“This year November, will be celebrating my 18th year in speaking on Radio and so, I cannot risk this achievement by coming on air an say just anything at all because of politics or lack of knowledge. Let’s get these suggestions and advise from the region published.” Paul Danka said.

Paul Danka lost his bid to become the Deputy Upper East Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress on September 1, 2018, when delegates gathered at Sumburungu to decide which people should lead the NDC in the region.

Paul Danka polled 194 votes, while Ophelia Atukula had 314 votes to become the NDC’s Deputy Upper East Regional Secretary.
