Ghana Trade and Livelihood Coalition Initiates Processes To Grow 5000 Shea Trees In The Talensi District To Enhance Shea-Nut Cultivation And Marketing

The Ghana Trade and Livelihood Coalition (GTLC) has acquired one hundred acres of land each at Tongo-Beo and Yinduri in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region to grow a total Five Thousand shea trees.

The move is geared towards enhancing the cultivation, production and marketing of quality shea-nuts and shea-butter in the district. In order to involve all stakeholders, a participatory shea market development meeting was held on Wednesday at the Talensi District Assembly in Tongo.

Coordinator for the Ghana Trade and Livelihood Coalition, Ibrahim Akalbila speaking to A1 News after the meeting, gave a highlight of what the project entails and said bush fires in the Talensi district are the major threat to the project but there are major steps in place to sustain it.
