Although many communities in the Upper East Region have been connected with electricity, a few communities are still struggling to also benefit from the national grid.
The Vea Tangabouri Community in the Bongo District is one of such communities without electricity and yearning to get onto to the national grid.
Students in the community say, the situation making it difficult for them to study at night. The situation is also affecting economic activities that are largely dependent on the use of electricity.
Speaking to A1 Radio, the Assembly member for the Vea Electoral Area, Timothy Baba, faulted politicians for not providing the community with electricity after mounting electrical poles in the community in 2013.
The Vea Assembly member also called on relevant authorities to support Vea community to work on the embankment of the Vea irrigation dam to avoid loss of lives and properties during rainy season.
