Management of Cardinal Mining Limited operating in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region says it will ensure good working conditions based on international standards for local and foreign workers.
A senior consultant with MKM SOCIAL, Daniel Atta Aubrey gave the assurance when he addressed the Talensi Development Committee on behalf of Cardinal Mining Limited during a forum.
According to him, Cardinal Mining has started engaging households on its operations before it finally enter to the communities and its operational areas, adding that, it is their priority as a credible mining company to compensate affected community members in one way or the other due to their nature of mining activities.
He also stressed that improving the health condition of people in affected communities is also in their plans, the reason they have started with a community health assessment.
Paramount Chief of the Talensi Traditional Area who doubles as the President of Talensi Traditional Council, Tongoran Kugblisong Nalebegteng lauded the company especially for the steps they have taken by engaging community members.
According to him, the development committee which is made up of members of the traditional council and assembly representatives will ensure the demands of community members are met by the mining company.
