52 Communities in Bongo to Get Electricity by End Of 2016

Ten communities of the Bongo District of the Upper East Region are expected to be connected to the national electricity grid by the end of July this year.

Bongo District Chief Executive, Alexis Adugdaa Ayamdoo made this known after inspecting on-going work on the rural electrification project in Bongo.

The ten communities including Atiabisi, Atanseka, Balungo, Apubeo, Goo, Awaa and Kadare Kunsebisi are currently benefiting from phase 1 of the rural electrification project and are expected to have electricity by end of July 2014.

Fourteen different communities will also benefit from phase 2 of the rural electrification project which is expected to be commissioned in December 2014.

In total, 52 communities of the Bongo District are expected to be connected to the national grid by end of December 2016.

Speaking to A1 News after inspecting work done so far under the rural electrification project, District Chief Executive of Bongo, Alexis Adugdaa Ayamdoo said the project will improve on the economic lives of the people of Bongo as most artisans in the district depend largely on electricity to do their work.

Project Manager of Thengashep Ghana Limited, the main contractor executing the project, William Patrick Matthee pledged to complete work on schedule.
