The Upper East Regional Branch of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has called off its intended strike action and demonstration which was slated for this week.

The Upper East Regional branch of NAGRAT at a Press Conference on Friday threatened a strike action to be followed by a demonstration dubbed: “occupy Municipal Assembly” due to the Assembly Finance Officer’s refusal to sign the Establishment Warrant in respect of Salary Adjustment, Up-grading, Promotion and Incremental credits of some teachers but have now abandoned the threat.

A press statement issued on Monday by the executive body of the Association, explained that the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly had taken steps to sign the documents.

In the statement signed by Michael Ayuraboya Akanvibe, the NAGRAT Chairman for Upper East, the teachers said they were “reliably informed that the documents are being worked on by the Municipal Assembly”  and hence the decision to suspend their strike action and demonstration.
