Upper East Regional Minister and New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central, Tangoba Abayage, says, National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Mahama has no legacy in the region to be voted for as president in the 2020 general elections.
According to her, John Mahama is being hoodwink by the NDC for his re-election bid but has no legacy and justifiable reasons for another chance to govern the country after his abysmal performance.
Speaking on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East ahead of a two-day working visit of the NDC’s running mate Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the region, Madam. Abayage, wandered why the failed John Mahama is seeking re-election.
“John Mahama has been a president before, he is gone and coming back. I don’t know if Jane Opoku-Agyemang ask him, John Mahama, why are you going here for?. But I don’t know why he is coming back, what did he leave in the Jubilee house that he is coming back for?.
But this isn’t NOVDEC, we are not writing WAEC exams so that, when you write and you don’t pass, you say that, you are going back to write NOVDEC, this is governance. John Mahama, failed and Ghanaians say, he has failed, go home and rest and he was deceived to come back”.
“As She (Opoku-Agyemang) comes and is going round the region, I want her to ask one question, ask the NDC in this region to name one legacy of John Mahama in the region. So that, when they come for the main campaign, She(Opoku-Agyemang) will be able to mount the platform and say, when John Mahama was the president of Ghana, this is what we did for the people of the Upper East Region”.
Madam. Abayage, reiterated that, the 2020 elections will be won based on the legacies of the NPP and the NDC, adding that, the NDC has no legacy in the region for which, it should be re-elected.
“The 2020 election campaign is going to be on issue based, it is not going to be whether you are a man or woman but it will be based on issues and legacies.
…And when they finished I will tell them what we have been able to do in the three years of the Nana Addo’s government for this region and they are unprecedented”.
