The Upper East Regional Nasara Coordinator for the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Mohammed Siita, has revealed that, 22 acres of land have been secured under the Zongo Development Initiative as burial grounds for Muslims in Zongo communities in the Bolgatanga Municipality and region at large.

The 22 acres of land was acquired as a cost of GHC468,000.00 and payment yet to be effected.

According to Alhaji Siita, the development was good news to the people in Zongos, because the NPP has done what the NDC could not do for them in 2014 when they first approached them with the request.

Alhaji Siita, disclosed this at a ceremony in Bolgatanga organized by NPP D-LINE Association to unveil the achievements of the NPP government .

“In the Bolgatanga Municipality, we have challenge, when it comes to burial ground. It is we the settlers, we use the burial grounds. The indigenes, they have family graves. Those places we use to bury for about 60 years now is full and have appealed to the NDC government in 2014, they failed to provide us with one. Dr. Bawumia when he came to the region to campaign, we told him of this predicament and he urged us to vote for Nana, that if Nana should win Zongo development Fund will be established and Zongo Development Authority will take care of our cemetery.

As I speak to you now, we have acquired a land of 22 acres which will cost us Four Hundred and Sixty eight Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC468, 000.00). Just last week, they gave me a call that the money is ready, they are coming to give us the money to pay for the cemetery. If we don’t support this government and the NDC come, how are we going to get it?” .

Alhaji Siita, was confident that, with urgent response to their needs from government, the people of Zongo will forever be grateful to the Nana-Bawumia led government.
