Ahead of the 2020 general elections, Head Pastor of the Action City Chapel International (ACCI), Evangelist Daniel Anamkina Abeto, has urged members of the clergy to desist from predicting the election results even before an official declaration is made by the Electoral Commission (EC)

In the heat of elections every year, some pastors engage in pronouncing prophesies of electoral results declaring some political parties winners and others losers ahead of the polls.

These predictions are mostly in favor of either the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

But such actions, according to the founder and Head Pastor of ACCI, headquartered in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, pose a threat to the peace of the country.

“Going out to tell people that, this person is going to be the president or a leader can cause problems. At the end, if the person predicted in favor of fails to win, he or she will say that a Prophet had already informed me that I will be a winner. That is where the person will take the laws into his or her own hands.”

“Men of God should rather pray for those individuals they think will win the elections, instead of predicting who becomes a president. The church is supposed to pray for peace but not to cause chaos into the country by predicting elections.” He stated.

Evangelist Abeto further admonished Ghanaians to be wary of pastors who go round predicting elections in favor of political parties.

He entreated the youth to eschew acts of violence in the upcoming election.

Evangelist Abeto made these comments during a ceremony organized by the church to honor some individuals who have contributed tremendously to the development of the Upper East Region and the country as a whole.

Some individuals honored by the church included a renowned local musician, King Ayisoba, for his role in projecting smock (Batakari) to the world.

A Senior Medical Officer and Head of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Upper East Regional Hospital, Dr Gillian Bogee, whose contribution reportedly saw the survival of over 1,000 newborns recorded annually in the Upper East region was also honored.

Other awardees were, Sampson Sapak, a retired Physician Assistant at the Upper East Regional Hospital as well as Gospel Musician, Elvis Nsoyine.

The church additionally donated a washing machine, detergents and sanitary items to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Upper East Regional hospital.
