Residents of Gonno, a suburb of Zuarungu in the Bolagatanga Municipality have threatened to boycott the upcoming assembly elections if their community is not connected with electricity.
The Gonno residents say they have been in darkness for over ten years now even though the main community is connected to that national grid and they are now fed up. They added that they have been putting pressure on the past assembly men to find a solution to the problem but nothing has been done. They say their hope is now on the current assembly man to help bring light to the community.
The assembly man for the area, Nicholas Adongo explained that the community is part of the rural electrification project which is in phases and the Gonno community has been earmarked as part of the next phase which will commence in 2015.
