The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has admitted that inexperienced cost the Black Stars’ 1-0 defeat to Uganda on Saturday.

It took the Cranes just eight minutes to get their Afcon 2015 campaign back on track with a 1-0 win over the Black Stars.

The Black Stars missed the services of influential captain Asamoah Gyana and Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah through injury, whiles David Accam and goalkeeper Razak Braimah made their debuts in Kampala.

Nyantakyi said:

“We did not have two key players but we cannot use that as an excuse. The team did not play badly at all but you can see that the inexperience weighed against us.”

“We conceded a goal from a single mistake and we could not get the result we wanted because the scoreline was the most important thing in the match.”

Nyantakyi added:

“Now we see that Uganda and Guinea both have 7 points after Saturday’s results and the group is still open. Our destiny is in our hands and we must get a win or, at worse, a draw, to send us to the African Cup of Nations. We really hope we get a good scoreline against Togo on Wednesday.”
