The Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Achimota Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region has ‘unreservedly and unequivocally supported the school’s decision to enforce its rules in relation to some students who were eventually denied admission to the school.

In a statement issued and signed on behalf of the Association by the Chairman, Andre Kwasi-Kumah and sighted by a1radioonline.com, it said the school’s rules and regulations 2020, section H, item 3 states that “students must keep their hair low, simple and natural without going through any chemical processes.”

It said the scalp of the head must not also be shown in one’s attempt to keep the hair low and simple.

The statement continued to say that this ‘old-age’ rule has prevented unnecessary attention and time wasting with ‘non-school’ hairdos, therefore any exception to this rule on religious grounds would open the floodgates for all types of hairstyles and breed indiscipline.

This comes on the back of some students who were reported to have been denied admission by the authorities of Achimota Senior High School after been posted to the school by the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). This has since ignited public debate.

However, Mr. Kumah in the statement said the Association stands with the headmistress and welcomes into its alms, parents who are ready to abide by the rules and regulations of the School.
