Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana, has donated personal protective equipment to the Zuarungu Health Center in the Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region, to help curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus in the area.

Speaking to the media on behalf of MTN Ghana after the donation, Obed Adu-Amankwah the Area Sales Manager – northern regions stated that, the fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic requires a collective effort, and it is for this reason MTN Ghana took it upon itself to contribute its quota to that effect.

He added that the protection of health workers is very significant to the fight and therefore sees reports about the lack of PPEs in some health facilities as unfortunate.

“During this pandemic, we have acknowledged that protecting health workers is paramount, yet there is lack of PPEs in some of our hospitals and health facilities. Today, I am very pleased to be here on behalf of the MTN Ghana Foundation to make an intervention that is needed to protect health workers during this period” Adu-Amankwah said.

The donated items to the facility include face masks, overalls, gloves, contactless thermometer guns, face shields, and mentholated spirit.

Abudu Malik, the officer in charge at the Zuarangu Health Center who received the items on behalf of the District Health Director expressed the facility’s gratitude to MTN Ghana for the gesture and described it as timely.

He said the items will go a long way to help in health delivery in the district.
