The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) is appealing to the general public to voluntarily donate blood to the hospital to augment its bloodstock.
A statement issued and signed by Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) Misbao M. Mohammed of the teaching hospital, sighted by A1Radioonline.com said the hospital “… have relied on voluntary blood donors and family replacements over the years, and these remain the major sources of blood.”
The statement noted that is increasingly becoming difficult to get donors who will voluntarily donate blood to the hospital.
The statement indicated that the hospital is currently having an acute shortage of blood because “The few pints of blood we had at the blood bank have been depleted creating an acute shortage of blood in the hospital.”
The statement is therefore calling on the general public as a matter of urgency to come to the aid of the teaching hospital by donating blood to the hospital to enhance health care delivery.
