President of the Hempire Association of Ghana (HAG) Nana Kwaku Agyemang, has revealed that over 2.5m people in Ghana smoke cannabis popularly called wee.
He stated that, Ghana is third in the continent behind South Africa and Nigeria in the use of cannabis and people like to “point fingers at people who have locks, these are the people who smoke it, Rastafarians etc but the fact of the matter is we don’t have 5000 Rastafarians in the country yet 2.5 million Ghanaians are smoking it so who is really doing the smoking?”
Mr. Agyemang said, people were being hypocritical about cannabis such that they openly condemn it but secretly smoke it at home or in their private closet.
He further said, our mindset is not yet tuned to reality and society is holding onto what our colonial master has described the herb and we will not embrace it and it properly make the best out of it.
Mr. Agyemang said, it is not true that people who smoke wee become mad and best way to deal with the challenges of its usage is to decriminalized and regulate it.
