Voting is currently ongoing in the Talensi constituency in two separate parliamentary primaries to elect parliamentary candidates for the June 7 by-election in the area.
NPP
Delegates of the New Patriotic Party have started casting their votes to elect their representative for the impending by-election. At the time of visit by A1 RADIO news team, some delegates and candidates had already cast their votes.
The process is calm and peaceful with a handful of security personnel present. In all, about 432 delegates are expected to cast their votes before close of the exercise at 3:00pm.
Three (3) candidates went through the vetting and have passed and currently contesting in the primaries. They include: William Zooga, Thomas Duanab Winni and Robert Alibo Ayindenaba.
NDC
Voting however has not started in the camp of the National Democratic Congress. At the time of visit by A1 RADIO news team at 9:20am to the Winkogo community center, arrangements were yet to commence and officials of the electoral commission were not present at the center of voting as well. Checks however revealed that the scheduled time for the exercise to commence is 10:00am.
About 766 delegates are expected to cast their votes before 3:00pm when voting will close.
On the ticket of the NDC, five (5) candidates are contesting for the bid to represent the party in the by-election. They are: Rockson Aditiba, Hon. Edward Awenore (current DCE of Talensi), B. T. Baba, Charles Boazor and James Ature.
