After the fire that gutted the Zebilla Senior High/Technical School in Bawku West District of the Upper East Region displacing most of the male students, authorities of the school are still battling to get a decent place for the students to lay their heads. At least 214 students of the school in November last year lost their belongings to fire that razed down the boy’s dormitories.

The situation has compelled school authorities to convert a seven unit classroom block into a dormitory for the displaced students. The circumstance biffed up congestion that already exists in both dormitories and classrooms of the school.

However, contract for the construction of 6 projects including dormitories and classrooms are at standstill as contractors working on the projects have abandoned the projects. This came to light when headmistress of the school, Catherine Nbun addressed a ceremony to inaugurate the school’s naval cadet.

According to her, the 6 projects which are at various stages of completion started as far back as 2011 but have since not been completed. Madam Nbun has therefore appealed to the central government through the Bawku West Assembly to get the contractors back to site.
