A Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North, Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi has called on Ghanaians to treat with utter contempt, the research that cited Ghana for human rights abuses, corruption among government officials et al.

Lawyer Appiah Kubi asked the Ghanaian public to disregard the lazy work done by the United States Department’s report on Ghana’s Human Rights Practices for 2021.

The report has observed that corruption is still prevalent in Ghana. It also says officials especially state enterprises frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity.

But commenting on the issue on the Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, the legislator said the researcher failed to holistically carry out its work and only sought to downgrade Ghana’s image.

“Tell us where in Ghana, that Judges make decisions that are not within the constitution or the laws of the country. As Ghanaians sometimes we don’t have to sit and allow some people to give us impressions that are not right. The injustices in the system compared that to America or any State in the US. Answers to these are known. So, they [researcher] don’t have to tell us what is good, goodness is comparative to what is good elsewhere.”

“We are as Ghana we don’t know how lucky we are regarding the peace we have. If we want to appreciate ourselves, go to Burkina Faso and compare that to ours. Ghana is an Island for peace; we have had a very stable democracy or governance for the last 30 or so years. So, let us be happy as Ghanaians and stop what others are saying”, he added.
