Narrative Changers, a pressure group in the Upper East Region, led by its Chairman, George Solomon, is entreating the President to update the people of the region on why work at the Rock Estates, an affordable housing project in Pusu-Namoo in the Talensi District, has stalled many months after the sod-cutting ceremony.

On the 29th of November 2019, it was all joy for the people of Talensi District of Upper East Region, especially, those from the Pusu-Namoo enclave. This is because the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo had cut sod for the commencement of 120 affordable housing units to ease the housing deficit in the region.

The excitement that greeted this project was short-lived as work on the said project has stalled with very little progress to show since ground was broken for work to begin.

When Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia gave an update on the project, he said that the project was 20 per cent complete.

At the time the Vice President made those remarks, a pathway had been created and clearing of the site had begun. this was according to checks done by this website.

The ‘Rock Estate’ as it had been referred to when completed would comprise 2, 3, and 4-bedroom detached and semi-detached apartments.

But when A1Radio’s Kennedy Zongbil visited the site of the project, Tuesday, April 5, 2022, there was no sign of the contractor, workers or construction equipment. At the site, only 2 out of the 120 projected housing units were partially completed.

The unoccupied, uncompleted apartments have been taken over by insects and all manner of critters.

To this end, ahead of the President’s visit on August 4, 2022, the Chairman of Narrative Changers, George Solomon has entreated the President to update people resident in the Upper East Region on the progress of the project.

He made this called when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

“We expect the president to at least say something about the [Pwalugu] multi-purpose dam. We also expect him to say something about the Rock Estates which he commissioned in 2019.”

Mr. Solomon went on to say, “about the Bolgo-Bawku-Pulimakom road, we have overextended the deadline and so if at least, there can be a statement from him. Also, what specifically, does he have for the good people of the Upper East Region.”

Earlier, the Executive Director for the Northern Patriots in Research and Advocacy (NORPRA), Bismark Adongo Ayorogo also called on the President to as part of his activities for his visit, make public statements about the progress of work at the Pwalugu Multi-purpose Dam.
