President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Friday, August 5, condemned the destruction of staff and school property by some students of Bawku and Bolgatanga Senior High Technical Schools both in the Upper East Region.

Students from both schools went on a rampage and destroyed the schools’ properties along with private properties of staff in connection with examination malpractice. According to reports, the students rioted because authorities of the schools were strict and prevented them from cheating in the exam halls.

“It’s completely unacceptable and I think all of us should be very loud in our condemnation with the attitudes of the students who believed that somehow rather mechanism should be in place to facilitate exam malpractice it will not help them, it will not help the society.”

“People who cheat to get their results, you may get away with it today but somewhere in the educational ladder, you’ll be found out. Let’s have an attitude as I said work hard, prepare hard and if you do so the rewards will there.”

He added that some of the issues the students raised about preparedness are issues that should be raised before the exams so that the education authorities together with the students can find a way of solving them.
