Processes have begun for the construction of a fertilizer production plant in the country. It is expected that, all things being equal, the factory would begin production in 5 years.

The factory would support the fertilizer needs of Ghanaian farmers and help boost local food production.

The Upper East Regional Director of Food and Agriculture, Francis Ennor made these statements when he spoke on A1 Radio.

“Government is concerned about that [the production fertilizers] but it is not something that can happen within a year. Within the next 5 years, it should be completed because they are on it.”

“OCP is actually helping the government to actually set up another plant. That is still ongoing. In 5 years’ time, they will be able to finish it. It is a PPP, let me put it that way. If that one comes on board, it will help our farmers because we would not depend on external factors for our fertilizer supply,” he said.

Earlier, the Upper East Regional Director in charge of Food and Agriculture, Francis Ennor has stated that the prices of food prices would continue to soar because of the continuous increase in the prices of fuel.
