Garu District Assembly supports schools with 2,000 desks to help address 7,000 furniture deficit

Within the past few months, close 1,000 desks have been procured and supplied to help salvage the 7,000 furniture deficit within the Garu District. In the coming days, another contract for the procurement and delivery of an additional 1,000 desks will be awarded.

When Osman Musah, the DCE for Garu spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, August 25, 2022, he explained that he working assiduously to close the current furniture inadequacy in the area.

Mr. Osman explained that in just about 9 months since assuming office, about 1,000 desks have been supplied to kindergartens, primary and junior high schools as well as the single senior high school in the area.

“Last year, we were able to deliver close to 1,000 desks. This year, we are in the final stages of awarding the delivery of another 1,000 desks. Also, we are talking to well-meaning people; GETFund and the rest also to support us to equip the secondary school.”

“I am 9 months in office and I am working closely with the Education Director, so the response has been very fast. 2,000 in close to 9 months is a big deal,” he said.

In the past few months, some 8 school building projects have been commissioned and put to use while 5 are still under construction.

Earlier, Mr. Musah said the Agenda 111 project in the Garu District is 50 percent complete.
